U.S. Hydroponic Special Considerations

Poor Quality and Safety issues in fresh produce are minimized!

Fresh Produce | Special Considerations | U.S. Hydroponics

Outdoor plants are vulnerable to insects and disease in traditional farming methods, but in a greenhouse, this is much easier to control. Diseases are minimized by growing in a controlled environment, by the culture of safety, and by working closely with local experts, plant pathologists, and many other resources. Our Insect Pest Management Program controls pests and insects to enable healthy plant growth.

Locally Grown Produce is highly preferred!

U.S.Hydroponics is the first large scale commercial hydroponic farm of its kind in the Texas Panhandle, just outside Amarillo. This allows a locally sourced farming situation to provide premium produce anywhere in the Tri-State area, eliminating week long arrival times for fresh produce. Farm to Fork is truly a reality in this region now!

Efficiency of Hydroponics Farming!

Water Conservation | Special Considerations | U.S. Hydroponics

- Traditional agriculture methods can cause inefficiencies in the usage of water, land, and energy. Hydroponic farming uses 90% less water and 70% less land than field grown produce.
- In hydroponics, the plant roots are in a nutrient- rich water at all times. U.S.Hydroponics re-circulates the same water and the nutrient solution with minimal waste.
- We utilize a soilless culture, therefore eliminating soil erosion, or loss of precious nutrients. We use 70% less land to grow the same amount of lettuce grown outdoors.

Population Growth exceeds Food Supply!

It is estimated that by 2050, we will need to double the amount of crops we grow to feed 2 billion more people in the world. There is no more land, so different methods of production need to be acquired to fill this demand. Hydroponics is one of them.
